Prof. Ute Helmbold invited me to give a keynote for the Stumbling blocks - learning to read images conference at HBK Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig – Brunswick University of Fine Arts.

In my Used? lecture I discussed several ideas that are linked to the term "usedt" e.g., appropriation, sampling, stealing as well as, if and when a designer or design is need – what would be really required, and necessary.

TV On Air Promotion / TV Design jury

Served in the TV Design / On Air Promotion jury at the 2004 Art Directors Club of Germany (ADC) contest in Berlin.

ADC's mission is to increase and appreciate Germany's creative force, as well as to recognize outstanding and creative work in economic communication, and, to support creative young talents.
Each year, ADC invites all creative works published within the past year into the contest. Prices will be awarded in 46 categories covering the full range of communication. Juries consisting of ADC members will judge all admissions under the ADC standard criteria of originality, clarity, persuasiveness, craft and gratification.

Portfolio / Interview

Prof. Simone Krois invited me into her Multi Media Art class at the Academy for Applied Science Salzburg. 

My lecture focused on preparing and presenting one's portfolio in a job interview situation. In Prof. Simone Krois' class the students prepare their portfolio for the upcoming internships. Each student did a short pitch, and got a short feedback from me in return – a bit like speed dating.

Studio talk
November 2003

Students of the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts' design faculty invited me to give a studio talk at their Bilderkriege Focus Award 2003 conference.

In 2003, the focus Bilderkriege [war of the images] was particularly relevant because of the images and broadcasting of disaster scenarios like 9/11 or reports from the Kosovo war. Topics like, visualizations such as war photography or scenic images of historical events were also topics included in this conference.

The International Film School in Cologne invited me to their panel Media Design - Learn how to flirt with the audience at the annual Cologne Conference.

My co-chair at Baden-Württemberg film academy Prof. Manfred Becker, brilliant designer Eric Bernaud from Marseille, composer Olaf Mierau and Eyes and Ears of Europe CEO Wout Nierhoff, and I discussed how to flirt with the audience.

Joined the panel discussion about interactive design at the mecon - The congress for digital media production in Cologne. Mecon was part of the Medienforum NRW 2002 at Cologne trade fair.

On air design for VIVA Plus
June 17th, 2002

Prof. Almut Schneider invited Marcus Schmickler and me to the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences' design department to present our concept, and explain the production of the VIVA Plus on air design to her class.

Marcus Schmickler led a team of amazing sound designers and musicians to produce the new audio identity for the launch of VIVA Plus Music TV channel. Together with Germany's best contemporary graphic designer, Chris Rehberger, I served as art director and creative producer for the visual part of the on air design.
